Deutlich artgerechterer Transport

Berlin -> München war wie immer ereignislos. München -> Dubai hingegen überraschte angenehm da die Lufthansa meinte keine Economy-Plätze mehr freizuhaben und mir ohne Aufpreis zu einem Sitz in der Businessclass und einem nach München-Süd klingenden Sitznachbarn verhalf. Ich muss zugeben das, im Gegensatz zum innereuropäischen Verkehr mit seinen marginalen Klassenunterschieden, der Bequemlichkeitsfaktor schon deutlich zu spüren ist. Zeitlich gesehen ist der Flug eher unangenehm, durch die drei Stunden Zeitunterschied verbunden mit einer Landezeit kurz vor sechs morgens (Ortszeit) entsteht eher ein Gefühl wie nach einer echt harten Partynacht, nur das hier dann schon das Tageswerk gleich anfängt.

Kurz vor der Landung gabs noch ein modernes arabisches Nachtbild zu bewundern (Foto wurde leider nix). Südlicher Sternenhimmel mit Sichelmond, unten auf dem Wasser die Lichter der Fischerboote und der rötlich-gelbe Schein einer Gasabfackelung. Fast romantisch.

Im Flugzeug waren auch einige Teilnehmer zu beobachten die offenbar ausschliesslich zum "Dubai Shopping Festival" anreisten. Mit sehr teurem Tuch die für die Beinmuskeln etwas überreichlichen Körpermassen verhüllend, über und über mit stillosen Luis-Whatever Designertaschen behängt (deren einzige Rechtfertigung für den Preis offenbar nur noch das formatfüllend vielfache copy&paste des Designer-Schriftzuges ist) reiste ein Mutter- und Sohn-Pärchen an, um sich noch mehr von solchem Klimbim zu beschaffen. Wofür auch immer sie das brauchen. Neulich stand doch in der Zeitung das Shopping gar nicht glücklich macht, die beiden sahen jedenfalls wie eine wandelnde Bestätigung dessen aus.

Auf der anderen Seite finde ich die Benennung des Festivals angenehm ehrlich. Nicht so ein verschämtes vorschieben irgendwelcher anderen Gründe (Volksfest zum 279sten Jahrestag des stolzen Wasserlassens des Dichterfürsten Goethe an der örtlichen Dorflinde bei der Vorbeifahrt zum König), sondern ein korrekt benannter landesweiter Winterschlussverkauf für Waren aller Art mit staatlicher Promotion. Die Shopping-Meile im Flughafen schlägt an Länge und Prunk alles was ich vorher gesehen habe. Aufs Fotografieren habe ich verzichtet weil ich vor der Einreise keinen Stress haben wollte, vielleicht klappts ja bei der Abreise. Dieses wirklich riesige Chrom-Leucht-Blink-UFO unter der Decke will ich einfach knipsen...

Überhaupt ist die Grenze zwischen Staat und dem Rest der Gesellschaft hier extrem fliessen. Für alle praktischen Belange führt die Herrscherfamilie ihr Emirat wie eine Firma. Der Erfolg kann sich offenbar sehen lassen, es boomt anscheinend wie blöd und es wird gebaut als würde davon der Weltfrieden ausbrechen. Alles was hier mit körperlicher Arbeit zu tun hat wird nahezu ausschliesslich von Ausländern gemacht. Inder, Pakistanis, Marrokaner, aber auch viele Europäer fahren die Taxis, bedienen in den Restaurants und bauen die Wolkenkratzer. Sie haben im wesentlichen keine Rechte, wenn sie Stress machen werden sie direkt "nach Hause" deportiert. Die "Ureinwohner" mit sowas ähnlichem wie Bürgerrechten sind nur ca. 20% der Bevölkerung, aber die haben halt das Geld vom Öl das durch die vielfach verschlungenen Familien- und Stammesbande verteilt wird. Was ein bisschen verwirrend ist: auch die höchsten Würdenträger und Offiziere tragen das meist traditionelle arabische Gewand, die Rangzeichen sind höchst subtil.

Die Verschiedenheit der Kulturen macht sich in Dubai oft genug am Rande, in kleinen Details bemerkbar.
