… that mankind will discover the means to achieve near immortality, just in time to give us ample time to watch the destruction of our planet by our own stupidity at length. Actually, prolonging the life span of humans might be the only way to get people to act. Too many people live with an implicit “I will not see the worst anyway, because I am dead by then”-attitude. Interestingly, things are changing .
I am just reading Micheal Crichtons “State of Fear” (got it by accident at the airport…) and I am amazed how thoroughly a popular thriller author can be bought by the oil lobby, to write “climate disaster is just the phantasy of some twisted minds”-nonsense. Haven’t finished yet, but I get the feeling this will be the last Crichton book I will read.

Yes, really. I just grabbed the most colorfull looking book from the “real cheap thrillers” display and quickly checked wether it sounded vaguely interesting. Then I needed to sprint for my flight (which was delayed several hours later on…)
